Urban Chicken Coop

Tried and tested design. This chicken coop by Panda Farm is built strong and built to last.

Coop is constructed entirely from H3 treated pine, therefore not necessary to paint or varnish.

The dimensions of the chicken coop are length = 2400mm (excluding handles and skids), width = 900mm and height = 850mm.

Coop is ideally equipped to house up to three to four hens.

Note that this coop comes as a single unit and cannot be flat packed for shipping. Wine bottle shown in profile picture for size comparison only.

Coop consists of an outdoor run attached to an indoor enclosure. Outdoor run is enclosed in heavy gauge 19mm square welding mesh (base left open to encourage chickens to peck and feed off insects in the soil). An outdoor perch has been provided within the run and a gate that opens out at the end of the run. The length of the run is 1800mm.

The indoor enclosure provides shelter to the chickens from the weather elements. It is completely enclosed in plywood panels so chickens can remain dry and warm. Enclosure is elevated to suit the nesting preferences of chickens and to provide additional insulation from the cold ground during winter.

All plywood panels are glued and nailed to the frame allowing enclosure to be fully water tight.

All plywood used to clad the structure is CD grade i.e. clear grain with no knots on outside.

Enclosure contains two removable nesting boxes and an indoor perch.

An internal wall, access chute and overhang roof ensure that no rain, even the sideways kind, can ever access the nesting boxes.

A slatted floor allows droppings to fall down into a drawer below. The drawer slides out from the outside so that droppings can be emptied.

The length, width and height of the enclosure are 600mm, 900mm and 600mm respectively.

Pick up location is Karori, Wellington. Alternatively, drop off can be arranged for an additional charge to be agreed.

Walk-in Chicken Coop

This stylish looking chicken coop by Panda Farm is ideal for small scale poultry farming. Coop is ideally sized to house up to 6-8 chickens. Wine bottle in profile picture is shown for size comparison only.

The inside dimensions of the coop are width = 1200mm, length = 1270mm and height = 1750mm (1650mm at back).

Coop is constructed entirely from H3 treated pine, therefore not necessary to paint or varnish. All plywood panels are glued and nailed to the frame for water tightness and strength. The corrugated iron roof overhangs the structure on all sides to provide further protection from the weather elements. All plywood used to clad the structure is CD grade i.e. clear grain with no knots on outside. Windows at the front are covered in heavy gauge 19mm square welding mesh. All wire edges are clamped within the frame so no untidy sharp edges here.

Inside the coop you will find 3 x elevated nesting boxes and 2 x 0.90m perches. Nesting boxes and perches can easily be removed from the coop for cleaning. Nesting boxes are located along the back wall of the coop to provide maximum protection from the weather elements.

The coop comes in a flat pack which consists of 5 panels (4 x walls and 1 x roof) and a nesting box and perches. The panels and perches come labelled for ease of assembly. Assembly of the coop is extremely simple and 2 people can complete in 10-15 minutes (cordless drill and socket set required).

Note that a small door can be cut in the back of the coop to allow for a free range poultry system if required. The door can be opened and closed at will using a sliding panel mechanism. The additional cost of adding the small door and sliding panel mechanism is $20.

Pick up location is Karori, Wellington. Alternatively, delivery can be arranged for an additional charge to be agreed.
